"Paisaje 6" from the series Palimpsest
This image belongs to the series Palimpsest, a work that explores the process of mourning, loss, pain, and the gradual movement toward transcendence. In this work, I sculpt my father’s ashes over an image of a landscape as a means of creating an alternate place where, as in memories and dreams, the past and the present converge to create something new. This work was exhibited as part of the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival in Toronto in 2012. It was also shown in Fotográfica Bogotá Colombia in 2013 and at Nina Menocal Gallery in Mexico City in 2019.
