This image belongs to the series Habana, which is part of a larger project titled Absentia, which narrates a return journey throughout Latin America after residing as an immigrant citizen in Canada for over a decade. The empty pools function as blank canvases upon which I attempt to evoke a kind of vacant paradise. This image is part of the photo-book Absentia, and was exhibited at the Flacso Gallery in Quito, Ecuador in 2017, and at Hydra+Fotografía Gallery, Mexico City in 2019.
